Gypsum board is factory produced panel composed of a set, noncombustible gypsum core typically encased in paper. This face paper is folded around the long edges to reinforce and protect the core, while the ends are cut square and finished with tape. Long edges can be either squared, rounded, beveled, or tapered to allow joints to be reinforced and concealed with tape and gypsum cement. Gypsum board is lightweight and fire resistant and conducts little heat or sound. It is also vermin proof and noted for it ease of installation.
